Pipeworx built a custom set of equal length headers and a new roll cage for this 1940 Willys Coupe. Clearance for the headers was tight, because they had to share the engine compartment with a monster 572 cu. inch big block, fit under the fender wells, and then flow between the frame and channelled body, while at the same time allowing full lock to lock steering.
The existing cage in the car had to be completely replaced to meet National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) specifications for the speed the car will run in the quarter mile. The new cage is built out of 0.083 wall chromoly that ties into the Art Morrison frame the Willys body sits on. Since the car will pull double duty and be driven on the street in addition to the track, Pipeworx designed the cage to be inconspicuous and mostly concealed by the body.
